Nsuku Hlangwane is a traditional photographer hailing from Limpopo, South Africa. However, he grew up in the vibrant township of Soweto. From a young age, he was drawn to traditional photography, particularly the art of capturing culture and heritage through the lens of his camera. He spent much of his childhood capturing moments of daily life in Soweto, which he would later turn into works of art. Hlangwane’s passion for traditional photography led him to study at the Market Photo Workshop, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of renowned photographers such as David Goldblatt. He has since become an established photographer in his own right, with his work being displayed at various exhibitions throughout South Africa and beyond. Hlangwane’s photography captures the essence of South Africa’s diverse heritage, from the colourful costumes of traditional dancers to the everyday life of township residents. He has made it his mission to document the rich cultural and historical legacy of South Africa, and his work serves as a testament to the beauty and resilience of its people. Today, Hlangwane continues to inspire and educate through his art, encouraging others to take pride in their heritage and to celebrate the unique cultural diversity of South Africa.
